Filipino expats in Saudi Arabia are using their artistic talents to contribute to local and home communities through cultural initiatives. Ysmael Raul Salanguste, a Northern Samar native and senior architect at Aramco, has lived in the Eastern Province since 1993. He recently participated in the “Art Through the Spirit of a Nation” exhibition in Alkhobar, where his work was recognized. Salanguste, who has spent nearly three decades in Saudi Arabia, now focuses on giving back through creative expression. Other Filipino expats are also involved in similar projects, using art to strengthen ties between the diaspora and their homeland. The exhibitions highlight the growing role of expatriates in cultural exchange and community development. These efforts reflect a broader trend of Filipino professionals leveraging their skills to support both local and international causes.
