A 34-year-old Kuwaiti asylum seeker has been sentenced to life in prison for attempting to attack the Israeli embassy in London. Abdullah Albadri, who was found guilty of preparing terrorist acts and possessing two knives, was ordered to serve a minimum of 20 years in custody. The court in London ruled on Monday after a jury convicted him in May.
Albadri scaled a 2.4-meter fence at the embassy in west London in April 2025 while carrying two knives. Armed police intervened and subdued him. The incident occurred just days after the embassy had reported a previous attempt to breach its premises. Albadri was arrested and later pleaded guilty to the charges.
The attack comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and several European countries. Earlier this year, the UK Green Party faced backlash for equating Zionism with racism, a stance that Israel condemned as inflammatory. The move sparked controversy within the party and led to calls for the suspension of its leader.
The case highlights the ongoing security concerns surrounding diplomatic missions in the UK. Albadri’s actions are being investigated for potential links to broader extremist networks, though no such connections have been confirmed. The sentencing underscores the severity of threats against Israeli interests abroad.
