Russian drones struck Kyiv hours before the meeting, causing fires and damage to buildings. The strikes followed a pattern of Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure, including residential areas and storage facilities.
Meanwhile, the European Commission warned of potential disruptions to energy supplies due to Trump’s new tariffs on Russian energy. The measures could worsen the LNG shortage in Europe. Reports also indicated a sharp rise in Russian troop casualties, with estimates suggesting a 60% fatality rate on the front lines.
Zelensky reiterated Ukraine’s commitment to targeting Russian oil refineries as part of its strategy, while seeking international support for a negotiated end to the conflict. The situation remains tense as both sides continue their military operations.
