Meezan Bank, Pakistan’s largest Islamic lender, has approved 6,880 housing finance cases totaling Rs49 billion ($177 million) under the “Wazir-e-Azam Apna Ghar Program – Ghar Ho Tu Apna (GHTA) Scheme.” The initiative, backed by the government, aims to provide affordable housing to low-income families.

The bank’s decision comes as part of a broader effort to address housing shortages and improve living conditions. The GHTA Scheme allows eligible applicants to access financing for home construction or purchase. Meezan Bank is one of several participating institutions collaborating with the government to expand access to housing loans.

This housing initiative follows previous government efforts to boost construction and economic growth. The scheme is designed to support middle and low-income households by offering competitive interest rates and flexible repayment terms. The approval of these loans reflects the government’s ongoing push to stimulate the real estate sector and reduce urban overcrowding.

The GHTA Scheme was launched to align with national development goals, emphasizing financial inclusion and infrastructure improvement. With the current approval, the program has already facilitated housing for thousands of families, contributing to the broader economic and social stability of the country.
