Saudi Arabia's Cabinet has endorsed military operations led by the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, targeting the Houthis. The decision came during a session chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh. The Council of Ministers emphasized the need to safeguard freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandab Strait. The statement warned the Houthis of potential consequences for their repeated attacks on Saudi territory.
The Houthis have issued warnings that attacks on Riyadh and Dammam will provoke a severe response. A senior Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps adviser stated that a ground offensive by Iran would lead to catastrophic outcomes. Meanwhile, the ongoing conflict has disrupted daily life in Riyadh, prompting the closure of the city's airport and the postponement of an Asian Champions League football match. Cristiano Ronaldo and other players displayed support for Saudi Arabia by wearing national flags during the event.
The attacks have prompted international reactions. Egyptian billionaire Naguib Sawiris has called for Arab nations to cut ties with Iran, expressing solidarity with Saudi citizens and mourning the victims. The situation reflects growing tensions in the region, with the conflict in Yemen escalating into broader geopolitical concerns. The Saudi government continues to stress its commitment to regional stability and security.
