The Saudi medical charity Al-Balsam Association carried out 112 heart-related surgeries in Nigeria over six days. The procedures, conducted in Abuja, included 28 open-heart surgeries and 84 catheterization procedures. The mission ran from October 13 to 18.

The team faced travel disruptions caused by militia attacks and operational challenges at local hospitals. Despite these obstacles, the operation proceeded. The team consisted of 10 Saudi volunteers and 35 Nigerian medical professionals. The Nigerian staff received commendations for their dedication to the humanitarian effort.

This mission highlights the ongoing collaboration between Saudi medical organizations and Nigerian healthcare professionals. Al-Balsam Association has previously engaged in similar initiatives in other African nations. The current effort underscores the role of international medical charities in addressing critical healthcare needs in regions with limited resources. The success of the mission reflects the resilience of both the Saudi and Nigerian medical teams in overcoming logistical hurdles.
