A drone strike hit an Aramco oil field in Saudi Arabia, killing two people and injuring two others, according to local authorities. The incident occurred near the Shaybah oil field in the Eastern Province. Debris from the intercepted drone caused the casualties.
Saudi Civil Aviation Authority confirmed a separate attack at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, where one person was killed and eight injured. The victim was a Saudi resident. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that an Indian national was among the casualties at the airport.
The attacks are attributed to the Houthi group, which claimed responsibility for targeting Saudi infrastructure. The Houthi rebels stated they attacked the Saudi Ministry in Riyadh, the Aramco oil field in Yanbu, and two airports in the past 48 hours.
This follows a pattern of attacks by the Houthi group against Saudi targets, escalating tensions in the region. The Indian government expressed condemnation of the attacks, reaffirming its support for Saudi Arabia’s security.
The incidents highlight the ongoing conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Houthi rebels, who are backed by Iran. The attacks have raised concerns about regional stability and the safety of foreign nationals in the area.
