Saudi authorities confirmed that debris from intercepted ballistic missiles launched by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis injured two people in the town of Khamis Mushait on Sunday. A Saudi citizen and an Asian expatriate were among those hurt, according to a Saudi Civil Defense spokesperson. The attack damaged three residential buildings and seven vehicles.
The incident follows a similar event the previous day, when debris from two Houthi ballistic missiles struck areas near Khamis Mushait and Ahad Rafidah. Officials reported that the missiles were intercepted by Saudi defense systems, but the resulting shrapnel caused damage and injuries. The Houthis, who are supported by Iran, have been launching attacks from Yemen into Saudi territory, escalating regional tensions.
The attacks come amid heightened concerns over the ongoing conflict in the Red Sea region. Saudi Arabia has been under pressure from Houthi attacks on key infrastructure, including airports and military installations. This latest incident adds to the growing list of casualties and damage attributed to the group. The situation remains volatile, with both sides continuing their military operations.
