Pakistan’s interior ministry announced Sunday that Saudi investors will fund a groundbreaking theme park in Islamabad, marking a new phase in foreign investment and urban development. The announcement followed a memorandum of understanding signed by Prince Mansour bin Mohammed Al-Saud and Sohail Ashraf in Lahore. The project aims to boost tourism and infrastructure in the capital.

The Saudi-Pakistan Business Council and the Capital Development Authority have agreed to collaborate on the theme park, which will be the first of its kind in the country. The initiative reflects Pakistan’s efforts to attract international investment and diversify its economy. The park is expected to open in phases, with initial construction set to begin next year.

This development comes amid ongoing urban expansion in Islamabad, where the Capital Development Authority has approved new high-rise towers to accommodate growing populations. The theme park project aligns with broader government plans to modernize the city and enhance its appeal as a regional hub. Meanwhile, Pakistan continues to address security challenges, including tensions with Afghanistan over militant activity.
